It’s a pair of shoes
They can be touched
They have an adorable smell
I awarded them to myself
They are pink in colour
They are smooth
I love wearing them
They are shoes full of
promise
When I was in class 3
my parents was behind
with the school fees
My mother got sick
Lost one eye
Maureen Chaka Our life got harder and harder
SHOES FULL
OF PROMISES
One day well-wishers came
to help children
parent’s couldn’t pay school for
I managed being taken
to an orphanage
I had a scholarship
and completed my
high school studies
Now, I don’’t live with my parents
I hustle for myself
I live alone and conquer life after school
I need finance
to join college
I want to studie
to pursue a career
in catering
My pink shoes
makes me feel good
I wear them on Sundays to look smart
I wear them when I do
mountainclimbing
I wear them for fun
in the Mamba village
in Nairobi, Kenya
